The best part about the book is that it teaches you how to spot your opponents’ weaknesses and build your strategy around it to attack and destroy them at any table. It also talks about how you can gain the upper hand with tight players and use a player’s aggression to beat him. One reason that i have not played 4-8 as much before is because that game is 30 minutes farther away from me, plus the fact that its a litte more expensive to play.This book will go through some of the strategies that you can use to win more games, including taking advantage of nits and rocks to win pot after pot. One interesting thing about 4-8 limit which has got me thinking about moving to that game is that it seems that players are a little more conservative and not willing to call turn bets with 2nd pair, or weak draws like a gutshot draw. This drives me crazy, and i'm wondering if i'm in the wrong game, or i'm expecting too much, or I need to change my strategy. Most of my downswings are just those nights when nothing goes right, and every donk calls their draws and hits. I played 4-8 limit a couple times for wins of +80 a piece, and recently had a +150 session at 3-6 a week ago, but ive also had a -100 and most recently a -165 session.

I would say that i was at least -600 in the red after 15 + sessions last year. I don't know if i am expecting too much by hoping that i can book at least 3/4 of my sessions as a win, but that is certainly not happening. I don't do this that often because i think that is -EV in the long run but i do like to switch it up a little to keep my opponents guessing with my big stack.Overall, this game has made me question myself.

Later on in the session, if i am up, i will open up my raising requirments a little more (AQ AK, pairs down to 10 10), and i will try to show my opponents that 'hey, I'm not as tight as you think, i will take stabs at pots' if i miss flops or etc. Most of the time, i will wait for the big hands, and let the donks pay me off when i get them. when i am already in the pot (like my BB) and i flop top pair or something, i bet to drive pple out, but will slow down if there are alot of callers and scare cards come up because you know someone will hit. At first, i wait for the big hands and bet them hard. I think i have an optimal strategy when i play. I feel that i make better decisions about my cards and how to play them than most of my 3-6 opponents. This has been (what i have felt) the only option for me to play the last several years due to the lack of other options other than 1-2 NL or 4-8 limit down at the city casino (which is a dump and a far drive for me). Primarily, I play 3-6 limit as my game of choice when i head to Harrahs here in St. A little background about my poker goings the last couple of years.
